Walking with awareness can bring a lot of joy. But usually we walk to get somewhere. In our busy daily lives, we are running to get things done at work, take care of kids and family. Like our thoughts, our hurried steps become a jumble of movement without joy, without direction and without ease.
We can slow our thoughts by slowing our steps. Taking each step more mindfully, we can learn to breathe with the rhythm of each step. When we walk one step at a time, we learn to live in the present. We can enjoy our own presence with each step.
We are blessed to be living in the beautiful San Francisco Bay Area amongst the rolling hills, deep blue sea and the redwood forests. We meet up monthly to practice walking meditation along with Qi Gong. You can sign up to join us for these meditative walks.
